6 weeks married!

It has been an eventful couple of weeks here!  I just got finished taking THE BAR.  Bar studying began right after my law school graduation in May, but I really put it off to get ready for the wedding and get married, so I did not start studying seriously until about two weeks ago (oops).  Needless to say, I crammed like a maniac!  The bar was awful, but I hope I knew enough to pass.  I will find out whether I passed on September 30, so say a prayer for me that day!  Also, Chris and his brother and some other guys went on a trip to California for 5 days! Chris got home a few hours after I left for Montgomery to take the bar.  : ( They played two rounds of golf every day (!) and worked on their golfer's tans.  It's about time for a honeymoon!

Like a Horse and Carriage: Wedded Bliss

You know the song, "Love and marriage, love and marriage, they go together like a horse and carriage. . . ."  I know I don't have much experience to speak from, but so far, marriage feels natural.  I know that there are obstacles in our future, but right now it seems easy, and Chris and I love each other more every day (my apologies--I feel so corny typing that).  Every once in a while he says something that surprises me and shows me how well he really knows and understands me.  For example, a couple of weekends ago we vacationed with his family at Dauphin Island, and at one point, just the two of us were out on the beach.  I can't remember now what we were talking about, but it had something to do with work, and he said something like, "You won't be working at a law firm forever."  As you can imagine, I was a little surprised, and I asked him what he meant.  He said, "I just don't see you working at some law firm 60+ hours a week for the rest of your life.  You're a free spirit.  You'll write a book or find something else to do."  I smiled, and I felt my heart swell a little.  I might've even wiped a tear or two from behind my Wayfarers.  I think he sometimes worries that he doesn't show me he loves me often enough, and though every girl loves a romantic gesture, it's unscripted moments like these that I feel the most loved.  I have some catching up to do.

Meet the Family

If you're reading this blog, you probably already know me, but in case you don't, this is our new little family!

Me and my Christopher Robin--You know it's true love when you gladly pick bugs out of each other's hair.

Our kitten, Atticus Finch(eater), who thinks he's a jungle cat (please excuse my appearance)

Atticus's best friend, Macy, who is as prissy a bulldog as you'll ever meet (in her tutu and pink Coach collar)

Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood

I'm currently vacationing with my family at my Uncle Andy's beautiful house on Ono Island without Chris : (  I'm also studying for the bar rather than enjoying the pool and beach : (

Inspired by my new sister-in-law and with the support of my new husband (!), I decided to start a blog.  I may or may not ever have anything interesting to say, and I am not sure that I can be faithful in posting regularly, but I want to give it a try.  Here's to many more posts!

With love,
Jillian
